Newton Heath LYR Football Club was formed by the Carriage and Wagon department of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway depot.
1902
The club was renamed Manchester United after financial difficulties threatened its existence.
1958
The Munich air disaster claimed the lives of 8 Manchester United players, a tragedy that shook the football world.
1968
Manchester United became the first English club to win the European Cup, defeating Benfica 4-1 at Wembley.
1999
The Treble-winning season under Sir Alex Ferguson: Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League.
2008
United won their third European Cup, defeating Chelsea in a dramatic penalty shootout in Moscow.
